Fashion Magazines: Pure Escapism

Nowadays you can read everything on the Internet if you spend enough time ‘Googling’ and follow enough celebrities on Twitter but despite the freedom of information that we have these days, there's still nothing like taking some time out to read a proper fashion magazine.

With all the new media around now the magazine industry is under more pressure than ever, but these sources don’t quite add up to the feeling of opening a brand new mag and turning each page to discover the latest fashions and trends that creative geniuses like Karl Lagerfield and Louis Viutton have dreamt up.

For a start, a magazine, just like fashion itself, allows us to dream big. Sometimes we might be disappointed that we can’t afford the big designer labels but really fashion is for everyone to enjoy - even if only the super rich supermodels, actresses and pop stars get to wear designer every day. Taking the time to sit and read a magazine is in itself an experience – a moment of relaxation. When we open up the pages of a magazine we can switch off from the real world and the stresses of everyday life and dream of what our wardrobe would look like if we could pick the outfits straight from the page and hang them up in our closets! Plus sometimes it’s nice to sit back on the sofa and relax without your laptop or computer – without emails and texts buzzing in and distracting your thoughts!

So instead of getting frustrated because we can’t all afford Prada and Miu Miu, when we get lost in a magazine we can still enjoy these beautiful creations. With each turn of the page we can fall in love with the designs of Christian Louboutin and Manolo Blahnik and then try to find a similar style at Deichmann for a fraction of the price!
