Insoles: Upgrade for your favourite shoes

High-heeled or flat? Fine leather for the office or robust synthetics for sport and leisure? Classic in black, colourful or with unusual prints? When buying shoes, looks are the priority. Yet it’s worth taking a closer look inside our loyal companions, because this is at least just as crucial for a dreamy walking experience as a stylish design. Of course, even high-quality shoes benefit from an upgrade in terms of comfort, for example with feather-light insoles. No matter whether you only want to balance things out in certain areas, prevent unpleasant friction or support your foot holistically with an ergonomically shaped insole: in the DEICHMANN online shop you’ll find a wide selection of these discreet little helpers, with which you’ll still feel like you’re walking on clouds even after a long, active day. Equipped like this, perhaps nothing will stand in the way of buying your favourite shoes. In our Online Exclusive area, alongside trendy shoe styles that you can only find online with us, we also offer lots of accessories from stylish to practical. And all at unbeatable low prices. So it’s well worth taking a look!

Insoles: It’s what’s inside that counts

Going barefoot is on trend. Not only small toddlers learning to walk, but also their parents and older siblings are more frequently seeking direct contact with needle-strewn forest ground, soft, fragrant moss or dew-wet grass. As healthy as occasional freedom for the feet may be from an orthopaedic point of view, probably only very few would want to permanently forego the benefits of a good shoe. After all, in autumn and winter they protect against icy cold and illness-causing damp. Quite apart from that, not every terrain invites you to walk on it barefoot. That’s why not only world-famous sports brands such as NIKE or adidas are dedicated to the ongoing development of the little technical marvel that is the shoe. Special interest is paid to the sole, because it largely determines how well and, above all, how healthily we get around. Amateur or hobby athletes therefore pay attention to cushioning, tread or abrasion of the soles of their running shoes and indoor shoes. Parents test the flexibility of {{c-378:first-walker shoes}} before the child takes their first steps. Older people, or those who work in “standing” professions such as care workers, on the other hand, care that the insoles adapt ergonomically to their feet and increase sure-footedness. But since foot shape is even more individual than personal taste, sometimes a little help is needed to turn a high-quality shoe into a perfect shoe that you’d rather never take off. The best way to do this is with leather or textile insoles.

Leather or textile insoles are the ideal companions for every season

Insoles differ fundamentally from biomechanical shoe inserts, such as those available in orthopaedic shops. They cannot treat misalignments of the feet. However, they are very well suited to making the footbed softer, creating a certain amount of shock absorption and preventing painful injuries that can occur, for example, when new shoes have not yet been properly broken in. Just like shoes, insoles also come in different styles and materials. Leather insoles are made very thin, which is why they are particularly suitable for more delicate footwear. A layer of soft latex foam cushions the foot and relieves the spine, while the robust natural material, enhanced by an activated carbon filter, ensures a pleasant foot climate. Moisture build-up and good ventilation are particularly important topics in the warmer months and for sporty active women, men and children all year round. Textile insoles, for example made from cotton terry, absorb foot moisture. This makes them the first choice for anyone who likes to slip into their sneakers barefoot in summer. Children, whose feet sweat even more compared to adults, also benefit from textile insoles, which can not only prevent unpleasant odours, but can also simply be machine-washed after wearing. If freshness and a barefoot feel are top priorities on hot days, in sub-zero temperatures feet can hardly be wrapped up warmly enough. How nice that you can equip your lined lace-up boots or water-repellent snow boots with an insole made of cosy lambswool for long stays in biting cold.

Gel insoles: For extra comfort and safety

Would you like a little more? For feet with special requirements, gel insoles are recommended, because in addition to excellent shock absorption they also offer extra-secure hold thanks to their anti-slip surface. It’s up to you whether you want to support the “problem zones” of the ball of the foot and heel specifically, or prefer wellness for the whole foot. Fans of pumps and ballet flats in particular will appreciate the ultra-thin, self-adhesive gel insoles. After all, they prevent feet from slipping in the shoes and therefore either swelling painfully due to too much pressure in the front area or causing chafing injuries. Anyone with small children will notice that their feet are often not the same length. Orthopaedists therefore recommend that parents choose the next shoe size up when buying new children’s shoes, so that the feet have enough room. The leeway for the slightly shorter foot can then be balanced out with a non-slip gel insole.
