How to Measure Kids Feet at Home - Teens, Junior & Toddler Foot Gauge

With the Back to School season beginning once again, this year it’ll be a particularly exciting time for children. Make sure they’re kitted out in perfect-fitting shoes and beat the queues in store by measuring your childrens’ feet at home. Order the exact size you require online for kids of all ages, as our shoe sizing chart for kids works for teens, junior and toddler shoe sizing. Simply read our guide below for how to get store-worthy fits for your toddler or junior shoes. As measuring is only a guide, it's important to check the fit of the shoes once they arrive. Click on the links to skip to a step.

1. Download and print your foot gauge

Ensure your printer is set to print at 100%. You can check to see if it’s printed to scale by using a £1 coin, or comparing it with a ruler or measuring tape. If it is too big or small, change the 100% to 80%/110%, etc, until it’s true to size.

2. Place chart on hard floor

Place the printed shoe size chart on a hard floor. This ensures that the chart remains flat with minimal distortions, providing an accurate measurement for your child’s foot.

3. Measure the length of each foot

Place the heel of each foot to the line noted, and measure the length. Make sure the foot is relaxed and the toes fall where feels natural to the child. Sometimes, feet differ in size, so each foot needs to be measured separately. If the foot is between sizes, go for the bigger size.

4. Cut out the width measuring tape

Cut the Width Measuring Tape along the dotted line. You can use this to get your shoe sizing precisely right for toddlers and juniors. Just make sure it is cut neatly along the edge to gain an accurate measurement!

5. Measure the width of each foot

Next, measure the width of each foot. Again, do each foot individually as each foot can differ in size. Wrap the tape from joint of big toe, to the joint of smallest toe (or wherever is the widest part of the foot), gently pull until it is snug, and take the reading from there. Again, if the child’s foot is between sizes, go for the bigger size.

6. Compare with the chart

Now you have the length and width measured for each foot, compare with the chart on the right of the PDF. Each pair of Dual Fit shoes comes with two sets of insoles for the perfect fit. If measured standard fit, just keep the top set of insoles in. If measured wider fit, just remove the insoles with the yellow underside. If in between sizes, go for the bigger size.
